Useful properties of this amazing tool have long been known.
At the end of the eighteenth century, the Scotsman Pargo Munch drew attention to the fact that the handmade product obtained from processing nuts was used by African women not only for cooking. Shea butter instead of cream for the face and as a prophylactic agent was used by the aborigines already then everywhere. It is this natural remedy that provided the excellent condition of the skin, restoring and saving it from the destructive effects of the environment. Studies show that this natural balm contains many different fatty acids in the composition of triglycerides, which have a positive effect on the damaged surface of the skin.
Thus, the use of shea butter for the face is:
- smoothing wrinkles.
Convenience of use of this natural balm of beauty consists in its consistence. By itself, the shea tree's hard extract at ordinary temperature is convenient for storing and transporting it in a purse along with other means used to maintain natural beauty and hygiene. Upon contact with the body, the fruit extract quickly melts, taking on a liquid form. Due to this, it is easy to evenly distribute over the surface and is quickly absorbed.
Particular attention should be paid to unwashable fats, the percentage of which is significantly higher than, for example, in cocoa butter.
Possessing regenerating properties, the oily basis of shea is significantly ahead of other cosmetics when eliminating the following skin problems:
- premature aging
- gray nondescript complexion
All this is due to the natural stimulation of collagen synthesis, which provides the formation of a layer that holds moisture, while allowing it to breathe. It creates the effect of a wet compress, smoothing out wrinkles.
Proper use of Shea butter for face
Extraction of this substance is carried out in two different ways - manual and industrial. Extraction of the pure substance with the help of a solvent allows you to quickly obtain a large amount of ready-to-use product at no extra cost.
The result is characterized by a high purity index, contains almost no impurities and is almost universally used by large companies in the production of cosmetics. Unlike the unrefined extract, which is extracted with the help of water, it is distinguished by a pure white color.
A logical question arises - is it possible to smear a face with such shea butter? Yes you can. But, as they say, there is a nuance!
The positive side is that the purified substance better conveys the aromatic composition of essential additives, without drowning their smell, and is ideally suited as the basis of the nutrient mixture. The cream obtained with the help of it can be smeared all over the body without fear of allergic reactions.
The substance produced by hand is better suited for use in its pure form and as the main component of face cream with shea butter. We can say the following about its beneficial properties - oil, without additional cleanings, saves a lot of useful substances for the face, which distinguishes it favorably from the product obtained using a solvent.

Shea Butter Shampoo
The fruit of the shea tree that grows in Africa is used to produce shea butter. Due to its moisturizing and softening properties, the oil is often included in hair detergent compositions.
These types of shampoos may have other ingredients that will also be beneficial to the hair, and the color and texture of the shampoo will depend on the particular manufacturer.
Different manufacturers can add different amounts of shea butter to shampoos, so you should pay attention to the labels to determine the concentration of this ingredient.
On a note! If the oil is among the first three ingredients listed, this means that the shampoo really has a high concentration of this nutrient.
Features and benefits of shea butter shampoos:
- Shea butter shampoo can contain components such as vitamin E, aloe vera gel and wheat oil because it blends perfectly with shea butter, so it deeply moisturizes and strengthens hair strands. The shampoo may also include agents that have foaming and cleansing properties, for example, sodium lauryl sulfate.
- Shea butter shampoo is usually thicker than other types of shampoos because the oil itself is very thick and dense in nature. Natural shampoo is usually white or light yellow in color due to the color of the oil, but the addition of artificial colors can significantly change the color of the product.
- Some of the benefits of shea butter shampoo include getting soft and shiny hair with fewer split ends, the moisturizing qualities of shea butter provide this effect. People with stiff hair can greatly benefit from the use of this product; after several applications, the fragility and dryness of the strands disappear.

Usually, when cleansing hair, only a few drops of this shampoo are needed. You can massage the head for a couple of minutes, but then rinse the hair thoroughly to avoid accumulation of shampoo and oil on the scalp. These types of shampoos are quite soft, so they can be used on a daily basis, if necessary.
Shea is usually odorless, so brands of natural cosmetics that also produce shampoos do not add flavors to disguise chemical odors.

Nutritious mask for hair with Shea butter
- 40% Shea Butter,
- 40% Avocado or Olive Oil,
- 20% camellia oil,
The amount of oil should be taken depending on the length and thickness of the hair (I take about one teaspoon of Shea butter, Avocado oil, and half a teaspoon of Camellia's unique oil). Mixing all the oils in a glass (or ceramic) dish, heat it in a water bath and apply it on slightly damp hair from the middle of the hair to the ends. We warm and hold for 1-2 hours, you can leave for the night and carefully wash the hair with shampoo. And on the roots an hour before washing, I put on a mask with a tincture of red pepper to stimulate hair growth.
After the mask, the hair is moisturized and saturated, and a good gloss is also noticeable, more than usual (I think this is the merit of all the oils together), but at the same time, the hair gets faster.
Advantages of Shea butter with regular use:
- instantly eliminates dry skin
- softens rough skin (elbows, knees, heels),
- protects against wrapping and UV light,
- possesses therapeutic and prophylactic properties for skin diseases,
- restores hair after chemistry and coloring,
- prevents cross section of the tips,
- moisturizes and softens hair
- returns the natural shine and elasticity of the curls.
Summing up, I can say that Shea butter is universal in the field of cosmetology, if it is not suitable for hair, you can find another use for it.
The secret of African beauties is shea butter! Very detailed about the miraculous properties of shea butter, my methods of application + + + collage, photo. Update 06/05/14 - another important feature - I learned about it recently.
Shea butter (karite) is a very popular ingredient of ready-made cosmetics, many companies include it in the composition of their funds. Let us consider in more detail all the most famous properties of shea butter (karite) and the facts about this amazing gift of the nature of distant Africa.
The homeland of shea butter (karite) is the African continent, the oil is extracted from the pulp of the clots of the fruit of the shea tree, which grows over the vast territory of the continent. The fruits of the shea tree resemble small avocados and have a pleasant aroma. Shea is a long-lived tree, its average age is about 300 years (oh, I wish I had such a tree in the yard.), And this tree grows only in the wild (all attempts to breed it at home were in vain), and the fruit begins to give only after the first 25 years of life. Carite fruits are 50% butter. Harvesting - from mid-June to mid-September. About 3 million African women get 80% of their income from harvesting shea.
In Africa itself, shea butter has been widely and extensively used by the local population for thousands of years in three ways:
1. COOKERY (as an additive to the most diverse dishes and sauces).
2. MEDICINE: Shea butter has been widely used as a regenerating and healing agent for wounds, cuts, peeling, burns, reduces scars and scars, helps with dermatitis, ulcers, eczema, restores the skin in many diseases.
3. COSMETICA: In Africa, shea butter is used for the whole family - from baby skin care and to preparing various home remedies for skin and hair.
I suppose just the cosmetic properties of Shea butter interest you, like me, the most.
At first, one very curious fact:
Back in 1940, many scientific observations confirmed that people using shea butter hardly suffer from skin diseases, and their skin is strikingly smooth and elastic.
Cosmetic properties of shea butter:
- natural natural UV filter
- stimulation of regenerative processes (activates collagen synthesis)
- elimination of dryness and irritation, skin softening
- increase skin tone and elasticity
- the transport function of the oil (in the composition of cosmetics it carries out the transfer of the active components to the deep layers of the skin)
AND another property of shea butterwhich I like and distinguishes Shea butter from many other oils: Shea butter smears very well and is absorbed quickly enough without being sticky or oily, and the skin becomes smooth and soft to the touch.
Personally I like to apply this oil in its pure form for the body during the cold season - oil thaws in the hands and I distribute it over the skin of the body. Pleasant aroma, fast absorption and nutritional properties - better than many body creams, the skin is soft and velvety without a feeling of fat.
Still I liked to apply this oil (also - in its pure form, like Africans, but I think I will soon make a special cream) for a child - the skin is perfectly softened and saturated with vitamins, and before going outside - protection from wind and cold, because there are ready-made products for children with this oil, for example, this cream:
And - as part of homemade cosmetic productsbecause shea butter is dense and thick, an excellent base for homemade cream.
Shikarnoenatural remedy for your beauty!
05/06/2014 I recently found out about one miraculous property of shea butter itself, so to speak, on its skin. I carried hot tea to my room (boiling water, just boiled up !!) and, closing the door from the mischievous cat, I hurried and inadvertently spilled just fiery tea on my hand. As a rule, in this case, discomfort from burns with boiling water and subsequently peeling skin bother for about two weeks. Burned skin just hurt terribly! The first thing that caught my eye was shea butter and I richly smeared the entire surface of the burn with it. What was my surprise the next day, when at the site of the burn, I did not see even a rosy skin. This is the effect. We must always keep this wonderful butter in the house!
What is the benefit of shea butter for hair
You may have already seen in online stores cosmetic oils with the names shea or shea. So, this is the name of the same healing base oil, which is the birthplace of Africa. It is there that Vitellaria grows amazing with fruits rich in beneficial ingredients. The nuts of this tree are used to produce fatty oil with a specific nutty aroma.
The appearance of the product is different from the usual oils and is characterized by a dense consistency. Available in small jars, from which it is convenient to take the oil with a spoon or with your hands. Upon contact with warm palms, the mass quickly melts - in just a couple of seconds.
In African countries, shea butter is often called "gold of women", because it saves from sunburn, disinfects and restores the skin, makes hair elastic and silky.
Shea butter is produced from the fruits of the tree Vitelaria amazing, which grows in Africa
In cosmetology, unique shea butter has been used for a long time. It is often added to various shampoos, conditioners and hair masks. Such demand for the product is due to the high concentration of healing substances. So, among the most valuable components are:
- fatty acids (oleic, stearic, linolenic, palmitic, linoleic), strengthen hair and disinfect the scalp,
- squalene, saturating the follicles with oxygen and nutrients,
- tocopherols and carotenoids that protect hair from the negative influence of environmental factors and stimulate cell metabolism,
- terpenic acids, relieving itching and inflammation.
Thus, shea butter has a complex effect on the scalp and hair structure, making the strands silky, docile and elastic. Most often the tool is used for the following purposes:
- protection against ultraviolet, thermal and other damaging effects of the external environment,
- return hair shine and elasticity due to the normalization of the water balance in the structure of the strands,
- eliminating signs of microbial and fungal diseases, as well as preventing their appearance,
- reduction of dryness, itching and dandruff,
- increased nutrition and hydration of the skin,
- activation of blood circulation and follicles for hair growth.
The product is especially recommended for the restoration of weak and damaged hair, often subjected to dyeing or chemical perm. If you constantly use a hairdryer, and your hair looks very dry and thin, then this oil will also be a saving means. It returns strength to the strands, strengthening them from the inside and saturating them with useful elements.
An important advantage of shea butter is the fact that the tool does not clog pores.
Shea butter has a firm consistency, but quickly melts when heated or in contact with the palms.
Recommendations for the selection and storage of shea butter
It is necessary to approach the choice of oil very responsibly: after all, only a real and high-quality product can be used for effective hair care. Before you go to the store for a jar of oil, check out the varieties of tools and its features. For this it is important to understand how the oil is produced.
The traditional method of obtaining the product is manual. The ripe fruit is collected, boiled, fried, then the resulting mass is boiled. This process is lengthy and laborious, and the oil produced in this way is not cheap. Modern technologies allow the use of a faster method of cold pressing, consisting in the pressing of seed kernels. So get an unrefined product that retains all the original healing substances.
There are other industrial ways of processing the fruits of the African tree, involving a high degree of purification of raw materials. The oil obtained during the filtration or hydration process is refined - less useful, but cleaner in terms of hygiene. The fact is that with such processing, some of the nutrients and vitamins are destroyed.
Depending on the technology used, the resulting oil is divided into the following classes:
- A - unrefined
- B - refined, not containing chemical impurities,
- C - with the addition of hexane,
- D - with the addition of foreign substances
- E - with a high concentration of additional components.
Of course, the most natural and effective product is unrefined oil class A, although it has a short shelf life. Among the refined oils, the most valuable are the funds of classes B and C, which are notable for their low cost and long shelf life due to the presence of preservatives. As for the oils belonging to classes D and E, they are used more for domestic needs than for cosmetic purposes, due to low efficiency and the presence of harmful impurities.
It is possible to distinguish unrefined shea butter from refined one not only by the label on which this product characteristic should be indicated, but also by the color of the mass. In the first case, the oil has a pale yellow color with a greenish or brownish tinge, and in the second - completely white. At the same time, the refined product is almost odorless.
Unrefined shea butter has a yellowish tint
In addition, when choosing a quality product, you should also focus on the manufacturer. The most valuable oil is made in Africa using the manual method. There are natural oils produced in the USA, Germany or France from African raw materials, but ideally, preference should be given to the product brought from the homeland of an amazing tree.
Purchased oil should not be stored at normal room temperature, but always in the refrigerator. It is in this case that the product will retain all its beneficial properties over the shelf life, which is about 2-3 years with undisclosed packaging. And after starting to use the oil is stored only 2-3 months.
Take care not to leave a jar of oil in the presence of sunlight or exposure to high temperatures, even for a short time - this will negatively affect the contents.
Refined Shea Butter is completely white and odorless.
Contraindications and precautions
As with any cosmetic product, before applying African oil you need to check if you have any contraindications to its application. Thus, the use of funds is prohibited in the presence of the following factors:
- individual intolerance,
- allergic manifestations.
How to check the absence of allergies? To do this, apply a little money on the inside of the wrist area and wait at least 24 hours, because the reaction may occur after a long time. If at the end of the day you do not notice irritation, redness or itching, then the product can be applied. Do not neglect the allergic test: it is important to identify in advance the individual reaction to the product in order to make its use for hair care absolutely safe.
If your hair has a high fat content, you should use shea butter with extreme caution. It is very effective for dry strands, but can aggravate the situation with fat-prone curls. In this case, the oil must be used in the composition of the masks with the addition of ingredients that reduce greasiness of the scalp, while nourishing it. In addition, it is important to comply with the recommended frequency of use of funds and monitor changes in the condition of the hair.
Variants of Shea Butter for the scalp and hair
There are various ways to use healing oil to improve the condition of the scalp and hair, the most common of which are the following:
- applying masks with shea butter,
- scalp massage in combination with a wrap,
- add to shampoos.
Since shea butter belongs to the basic means, it can be safely used without mixing with other components, in contrast to ether. Therefore, the lack of desire to spend time on the preparation of masks with this product is not a reason to abandon its use. The usual application of oil on the skin and hair will be no less effective way to heal the hair than using mixtures. Another thing, if you want to solve a specific problem, for example, to cope with a fallout, then preparing a mask with specially selected ingredients will produce a more powerful effect.
Shea Butter Hair Masks
Shea butter is used as a basic tool for the preparation of masks aimed at solving various problems of the scalp and hair. Before mixing this oil with other ingredients, it must be melted, otherwise it will be difficult to apply the product. To do this, use a water bath, which allows you to evenly heat the contents and prevent the risk of droplets of liquid on an open fire. Just do not bring the oil to a boiling state - this will lead to the destruction of most of the healing components.
Before applying the mask, make sure that the temperature of the mixture is comfortable. To do this, put a little money on the skin of the wrist.
After applying the mask on the hair, take care of high-quality weatherization of the head, doing the wrap. This will enhance the effect of the mask and accelerate the penetration of components into the skin. For wrapping suitable food film or plastic cap. You can even use a plastic bag. Additionally, the head is covered with a warm towel.
Shea butter masks are generally used no more than 2 times in 7–8 days. If your hair is prone to fat, or you use oil as a preventive measure, then you should apply the mixture once a week. The recommended course duration is about 2 months, after which it is necessary to sustain a break of 2-3 months.
After applying the mask on the hair, wear a plastic cap and additionally heat the hair with a towel to enhance the effect.
For damaged and dry strands
Most often, the problem of damaged hair appears as a result of regular dyeing, perm or brightening. Strands become dry and prone to cross section. To prepare a moisturizing mask designed to revitalize hair and make it silky, use the following recipe:
- Heat the shea butter (1 tsp is enough) with the help of a water bath, making it liquid.
- Mix the base with 3 tablespoons of kefir.
- Add 3 drops of orange ether and the same amount of ylang-ylang oil.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly, proceed to applying the composition to the roots and the entire length of the curls.
- Use the wrap for warming and leave the mask for 45 minutes.
- Remove the entire composition with shampoo.
It is recommended to moisturize damaged hair by using masks at least 2 times a week. Try not to use the hair dryer after the procedure, so as not to overdry the already weakened strands. In addition, watch the time - the duration of the session specified in the recipe is sufficient for optimal hair nutrition.
Kefir in the composition of masks perfectly moisturizes dry hair.
For fat type
Owners of greasy hair often have to wash their hair, because strands become soiled very quickly. In this case, it is necessary to normalize the condition of the scalp, reducing the production of sebum. Although shea butter is more suitable for dry hair type, it can be used on oily hair if it is mixed with the following ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon of avocado oil,
- 3 drops of vetiver essential oil,
- 3 drops of geranium oil.
To prepare the mask, combine all the ingredients, pre-melt 1 teaspoon of shea butter. Start applying the composition from the roots, gently rubbing the mixture into the skin, and then proceed to the treatment of the strands along the entire length. After 30 minutes, wash off the mask using a shampoo. The mixture for oily hair is applied 1 time in 10 days.
As a rule, mixtures with shea butter are applied on previously washed and dried curls.
For use on greasy hair, shea butter is mixed with avocado oil.
For normal type
Even normal hair can turn into dry and lifeless under the regular influence of a hair dryer or as a result of frequent dyeing. To avoid this, it is important to promptly care for the strands using different masks. As a preventive measure, you can prepare and apply the following mixture:
- Combine melted shea butter with coconut oil - you need only 1 tablespoon of each ingredient.
- Top up with 3 drops of sandalwood ester.
- Process the strands, starting from the roots, and hold the composition for about 60 minutes.
- Rinse off with warm water, using your regular shampoo.
When making masks, it is recommended to heat all base oils by adding them to the carite oil melted using a water bath.
It is enough to apply a nutritional mask for prophylactic purposes 1 time in 8–9 days.
For normal hair care, a mask based on shea and coconut oils is suitable.
For mixed type
If you compare with dry, oily and normal hair, then the most difficult is the owners of mixed type. In this case, the skin and basal zone are characterized by excessive greasiness, but the strands themselves closer to the tips are dry. This is a common problem that is often characteristic of long hair. The mask with aloe juice will help restore balance, eliminate excessive fat content and moisturize the tips:
- Prepare 3 leaves of aloe, from which you need to squeeze the juice.
- Mix the resulting juice with a tablespoon of honey liquid consistency.
- Add shea butter, heating 1 tablespoon of the product using a water bath.
- Stir the composition and rub into the area next to the roots, moving from the base along the entire length of the strands to the very tips.
- Warm up your head, wait 50–60 minutes.
- To cleanse hair, use shampoo.
To obtain aloe juice, it is not necessary to independently squeeze it out of the leaves of the plant - you can buy ready-made juice at a pharmacy.
For the preparation of masks used for mixed hair, aloe juice combined with shea butter and honey is best suited
To enhance hair growth, shea butter is often used in combination with tincture of water pepper. This combination has a warming effect on the scalp, resulting in awakening dormant follicles. Thus, with regular and proper use of the mask, the appearance of new hair is accelerated.
- Prepare 1 tablespoon of melted shea butter.
- Add 2 beaten egg yolks, previously separated from the protein, as well as 3 teaspoons of liquid honey.
- Pour in 1 teaspoon of water pepper tincture.
- Stir the mixture and process only the roots, leaving the mixture for 25 minutes.
- Rinse the hair thoroughly with shampoo.
Observe the recommended dosage of ingredients and do not leave the mask for longer than 30 minutes in order not to provoke a skin burn. The recommended frequency of use of the composition - 1 time in 8-9 days.
Tincture of water pepper in the composition of the mask will have a warming effect on the scalp and increase blood circulation
Shea butter helps to strengthen the hair structure and improve the nutrition of the follicles, resulting in reduced hair loss. With regular use of the product, baldness is prevented - for this, it is necessary to undergo a course of procedures for 1 month twice a week with the subsequent repetition of sessions after 2 months.
The regenerating mask is prepared according to the following recipe:
- Peel one onion and rub it on a grater, pre-cut into pieces.
- Strain gruel using gauze or sieve.
- Melt the shea butter in a glass jar - 1 tsp is enough.
- Mix liquid butter with onion juice and 1 tablespoon of kefir.
- Pour in 3 drops of lemon ether and mix thoroughly.
- Leave the mask under plastic wrap for about 30 minutes.
- To wash the mixture, use warm water with shampoo.
Before applying the mask there is no need to wash your head - due to the presence of sebum, onion juice will not cause skin irritation. Do not worry about the onion smell, which can remain on the hair after applying the composition, as fragrant oils will not leave a trace of it.
The regenerating mask not only reduces hair loss, but also activates the process of the emergence of new hair by stimulating the work of the follicles.

For split ends
Lack of nutrition and prolonged exposure to hair of adverse factors leads to the destruction of keratin scales, which causes stratification of the tips. Long strands are especially prone to cross section - this is due to the restriction of their life cycle. The regenerating mask will help strengthen the structure of curls and enrich the bulbs with nutrients:
- After melting 1 teaspoon shea butter, add 1 tablespoon of castorca to it.
- Additionally, add rosemary oil - enough 3 drops.
- Stir until smooth, apply the composition on curls, starting from the roots and seizing split ends.
- Hold the composition under a plastic cap for 60 minutes.
- Use a shampoo to rinse hair to remove the product.
Use a glass container to melt the oil, as metal products can cause an oxidation reaction.
Rosemary oil added to split ends mask will enhance regenerating effect.
In addition, the following mask effectively copes with the problem of hair section:
- Beat the egg yolk thoroughly, separating it from the albumen.
- Add 1 teaspoon of melted shea butter and 1 tablespoon of almond base oil.
- Mix the resulting composition and apply not on the entire length of the strands, but only on the tips.
- The mask can be left for 1 or 2 hours, then wash off using shampoo.
Masks to reduce and prevent the section of curls are applied 2 times in 8 days.
Almond oil in combination with shea butter and egg yolk will help stop the cross section of hair
Shea butter is great for preventing or eliminating dandruff, as it is a powerful anti-inflammatory and moisturizing agent. One of the popular anti-dandruff masks with African oil is prepared according to the following recipe:
- Using a blender, whisk the egg until a thick foam appears.
- Melt 1 tsp shea butter and mix with beaten egg.
- Lastly add 4 drops of mint oil.
- After mixing, treat the area next to the roots with the mixture, without going to the treatment of the hair itself - pay maximum attention to the scalp.
- Keep your head warm and hold the mixture for 30 minutes.
- Rinse your hair with natural shampoo.
Add essential oils to masks only as a last resort, so that the useful components do not have time to evaporate.
Peppermint oil is known for its disinfecting and antiseptic properties.
To moisturize dry skin and prevent dandruff, you can also use the following oil mixture recipe:
- Warm up 1 tsp of shea butter to add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
- Pour in 4 drops of esters of rosemary, lavender and tea tree.
- Carefully mix the composition, spread over the roots and scalp.
- Soak the mask for about 60 minutes, then remove the product using shampoo.
To achieve a stable result, it is necessary to apply the mixture 2 times a week for 2 months. The first improvements will be noticeable after 3-4 applications.
Mask with the addition of essential oil of tea tree helps to effectively reduce the appearance of dandruff
Vitamin mask will help restore natural shine to tired and lifeless hair, which will restore the strands along the entire length and make them silky and smooth. The mixture is also suitable for use on colored or bleached hair, which, under the influence of chemical compounds, have lost their radiance and beauty.
To prepare the mask, use the following recipe:
- Take 1 teaspoon of shea butter and melt it in a water bath.
- Add oil of burdock and flax in the amount of 1 tablespoon of each ingredient.
- Additionally, add 3 drops of liquid vitamin E.
- After thoroughly mixing the liquid until uniform, process the entire length of the curls, starting from the roots.
- After 60 minutes, remove the mixture using a shampoo.
When rubbing mixtures into the roots, do not forget to use circular movements with your fingers - just a few minutes of this massage will speed up the absorption of the components.
In addition, vitamins can be added to another nutritional mask for shiny hair, which is prepared as follows:
- Mix the melted shea butter with olive oil - just take 1 tablespoon of each ingredient.
- Top up with 1 teaspoon of jojoba base oil.
- Add 2 drops of liquid vitamins A and E.
- In order to enhance the effect, use Depantenol in liquid form (only 2 drops are needed).
- Spread the composition on strands, starting from the base.
- After 60 minutes, clean the hair by washing it with shampoo.
Masks designed to enhance shine and create silky hair are applied 1 time in 7-8 days.
Scalp massage with wrapping
If you want to improve the condition of the scalp and moisturize dry hair, giving it shine and softness, then applying a healing product in its pure form will give a good result. It is useful not only to distribute the product over the skin and strands, but also to perform a massage, which activates blood circulation and increases the saturation of the follicles with useful elements. In addition, the procedure promotes general relaxation: head spasms are removed and well-being improves.
It is important to massage the skin solely with the fingertips, and not to injure the surface with the nails. Circular movements should be neat and soft.
The session is conducted in the following order:
- Place 1 teaspoon of shea butter in a small bowl and heat to a comfortable temperature in a water bath.
- Spread the product over the entire scalp with massaging movements for 5–7 minutes. Remember that the careful rubbing of the oil enhances the penetration of healing components.
- Use a wooden comb to treat the hair from the base to the ends. To do this, apply the remaining oil on the tips of the teeth of the comb and comb the strands within a few minutes.
- Perform a wrap to enhance the result: cover your head with a plastic cap or food film, and wrap a towel over the top.
- Wait about 40 minutes.
- Rinse your hair using shampoo.
The procedure can be repeated twice a week if your hair is dry. For oily hair and greasy scalp, it is better to dilute the oil with the appropriate ingredients in the composition of the masks. Course duration is about 1 month.
Scalp massage with pure shea butter not only eliminates dandruff and dryness, but also makes the strands smooth, soft and manageable. After the first procedure, the combing of curls is significantly improved.
For the distribution of oil in the hair is best suited ordinary wooden comb
Shampoo enrichment shea butter
Another option for using African oil is to add shampoo. This method does not require additional time-consuming, as when performing massage or making masks. You simply enrich the composition of your product with a new cosmetic component and wash your hair. However, in this case it should be remembered that the oil is not suitable for daily use: the shampoo supplemented with the product can be used no more than 2 times in 7–8 days.
Choose a shampoo with a natural composition for enriching it with shea butter.
Add a tool in shampoo is very simple:
- Grab the oil with a teaspoon and melt it with a water bath.
- Pour the melted mass in liquid form into the shampoo at the rate of 1 teaspoon of oil per 250 ml of the main product.
- Close the bottle cap tightly and shake the contents so that the added component is evenly mixed with the composition.
- Wash your head in the usual way.
This option of hair care is not supported by all specialists. Some believe that the time of application of the shampoo is too short to allow the components of the oil to be absorbed into the skin. Others doubt the benefits of such a procedure: the composition of the shampoo is pre-balanced and does not imply the inclusion of additional ingredients. However, those who regularly use this method emphasize that the hair becomes very soft, docile, less split and looks healthier.
Many shampoos already contain shea butter, but you can add it separately to your regular shampoo.
Reviews of Shea Butter Hair
The first pancake was a lump ... I read praise, bought oil, melted, put, stood, went to flush ... but it does not wash off! Generally not washed off! I washed my hair 5 times to at least somehow wash off this fat from my hair ... As a result, the volume disappeared, instead of hair - icicles ... After some time I tried to make a mask from a mixture of oils - then the EFFECT ME SHOCKED ME! First, the oils were washed out without problems — two washes were enough, and secondly, the hair was so perfect that I did not recognize them: smooth, saturated, shiny, luxurious ... In other words, the hair was “alive”! As is the case with the skin of the face, for hair care, I use a mixture of oils, in which shea butter is a must-have ingredient! MY FAVORITE MASK for hair with shea butter: shea butter peach oil almond oil 10 drops of any essential oil (I use neroli or lavender) The cooking process is similar: melt all the oils in a water bath to a uniform consistency, remove from the stove, add essential oil. Apply to hair, soak, rinse. How I apply a mask: I begin to apply the oil mixture from the roots and scalp, dividing the hair in partings. After that I gently comb my hair with a comb with sparse teeth in order to evenly distribute the oil mixture over the entire length. I wrap my hair in cellophane, put on a hat to warm the mask, stand it up. I do not note the time of exposure, I maintain how much time allows. Unlike other base oils, including the favorite coconut, shea butter is stronger in effect! Shea butter exactly nourishes the hair and fills it, because of what the hair looks smooth and moisturized, the tips lie exactly and do not push. The only caveat - shea butter "eats" the volume, so for soft hair that is not voluminous by nature, shea butter should be added in a smaller proportion than usual.
Hair is the main thing for which I bought Shea butter. I have dry, porous hair, so I had high hopes for this oil. At first I used it solo, the effect struck me from the first application. Hair acquired extraordinary softness, became obedient (hair to hair), and split ends became less noticeable. Then I began to mix it with other oils, here are my favorite recipes: 1) Shea butter + Cocoa butter + Coconut oil (mix in equal proportions). 2) Shea butter + Olive oil (also in equal proportions) I apply these masks to my hair 2 hours before washing. Then I wash it all off with shampoo (for example, Natura Siberian shampoos are suitable for washing), these mixes are washed out hard, I wash off three times. After these masks, I just do not recognize my hair, they really look well-groomed, moisturized and healthy.
I am the most rare possessor, icicle-icicles; by nature, they are thin, liquid, (were, now it's in the past =)) with split ends. First, I went through the hair polishing, and then my Shea butter therapy followed. Below I will describe in more detail how I applied Shea butter: 2p per week I apply Shea butter over dry hair, along the entire length of the hair, I pay special attention to the ends, pin up with a hairpin and walk for about 2 hours. (Ideally, wrap the head with a towel) washing off, sometimes there are difficulties :) But, it depends on what shampoo to wash off, Siberian nature helps me (sea buckthorn line - Deep Cleansing). I wash off with one time, with other shampoos - two. Once a week, practice sleeping with Shi oil;). I put it on my hair, initially warming it up in my hands, because it is solid, it is just necessary to apply it on my hair, I make a gula and go to bed. THO is very important (!!), it does not stain the laundry, there are no traces of fat. hair just shine! smooth, easy to comb naked ends of hair seem thicker do not get confused smell.
I grew my hair and restored it from a completely killed state, and natural care, in particular oil masks, played the greatest role in this. Of course, you can use Shea butter in its pure form, but I also like to mix butter with base oils that are lighter in consistency. I have 2 oils in my pets, both from Aspera company - grape seed oil and almond oil. In principle, you can add both of them, and some one can be, their properties are quite similar in their properties. I pick up the oil from the jar with a spatula (the amount can be seen in the photo below), put the required amount of oil in a glass mug and heat it on the water bath as soon as the oil melted, use the same spatula to mix it until a homogeneous substance, add other basic ones to the resulting mixture oils, I determine the proportion by eye, put the resulting mixture of oils on the length of the hair to the middle, remove the shower cap under the cap, and wrap the turban from the towel on top, then hold for an hour and wash it off. The mask perfectly nourishes and restores hair that is dry and damaged along its length, makes hair smooth and shiny. The mask from Shea butter well nourishes dry tips, smoothes the cross section, due to which they look more well-groomed and you can postpone a visit to the hairdresser for some time. But this mask has significant drawbacks, which I consider necessary to mention. Shea butter is very fatty and nutritious in its properties, it is washed off from the hair with great difficulty! I needed to lather my hair as much as 3 times, and to distribute the foam also over the length of the hair and massage well. Probably everyone who is fond of natural care is a familiar case - you made an oil mask, seemingly washed it off properly, start to dry your hair and understand that the oil is left on the hair. You have to go to the bathroom again and wash your hair, be nervous, rush - that is why I advise you to use Shea butter in tandem with lighter oils. Shea butter makes hair heavier, as it intensively nourishes and fills damaged areas, which may not be very good for fine hair.
I put this oil on the ends of my hair - they are very dry and spoiled by bleaching and curling. I twist them into flagella and stroke them with my fingers. on which the butter has melted. My fluffiness, which only varnish can overcome (not the best way for hair), disappears immediately. I suppose that this method is not very suitable for oily hair, but immediately after such an application of oil is ready to go “into people” - the hair becomes obedient and lies as I comb it. In short, the fluffy dandelion is fading)))
Shea butter is an old proven tool that has been helping African women to take care of their hair for centuries. It has strong antiseptic and protective properties that allow you to restore the balance of the scalp, strengthen weakened hair and give shine to the hair. The product is characterized by high safety and all-natural composition. The oil can be used in the composition of various masks, when added to shampoo and as a separate means to massage the scalp. With regular use of the product, compliance with dosages and the recommended frequency of procedures, your hair will quickly revive and fill with strength.
